Is Osteopathy regulated?
Osteopathy was the first complementary health care profession to gain statutory regulation by parliament by the passing of the 1993 Osteopaths Act, giving Osteopaths the same legal status as dentists and doctors.
This means that all Osteopaths are registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and must therfore adhere to a strict code of ethics laid out by the council, as well as undergo continual professional development.
